Encountering God: How Faith Transforms Lives

A genuine encounter with God leads to transformation—not just inspiration.

Many Christians today feel stuck, going through religious motions without experiencing the vibrant relationship with God they long for. But Scripture shows us that God invites us into a living, dynamic walk of faith that challenges, deepens, and changes us.

What Does It Mean to Encounter God?

Encountering God isn’t about a one-time emotional experience. It’s about stepping into a relationship where God becomes real and personal. Hebrews 11:1 reminds us, “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” True faith calls us beyond comfort zones into trust—trusting God’s promises, even when outcomes remain unseen.

Faith in Action

Hebrews 11 isn’t just a list of Bible heroes—it’s a blueprint for real faith. Abel, Enoch, Noah, and Abraham responded to God’s call with obedience, often at great cost. Like them, we’re called to act on what we believe.

A modern example is a young couple who felt called by God to quit their stable jobs to serve in ministry. Despite criticism, they obeyed. Their journey led them to South Africa, where, through their evangelistic efforts, 90 people were baptized. Their story shows that living by faith may seem foolish to the world, but it invites the miraculous.

The Shift From “Contract Faith” to Unshakable Trust

Many only follow God when things go well—this is “contract faith.” But God calls us to something more profound: trust that endures uncertainty. Hebrews 11:6 challenges us: “Without faith, it is impossible to please Him.” Unshakable faith isn’t about holding tightly to God but trusting that He holds tightly to us.

Unshakable Faith

Real Faith Risks Looking Foolish

Faith often means stepping into the unknown. Like Abraham, who went out “not knowing where he was going” (Hebrews 11:8), we may be asked to wait, risk, or move forward without all the details. It might mean waiting 24 hours without flight tickets at an airport, trusting God to open the way. But when we trust, God moves.

The Fruit of Enduring Faith

Endurance is part of faith. Hebrews 10:35-36 says, “Do not throw away your confidence… you need endurance.” This isn’t about gritting our teeth—it’s about relying daily on God’s strength. When we walk by faith, God’s plans unfold far beyond what we imagine.

A Call to a Life That Impacts Others

Faith that encounters God doesn’t just bless us—it inspires others. Our stories become testimonies of God’s power and goodness. Like the heroes of Hebrews 11, we are invited to be part of God’s ongoing story of redemption.
